HOUSTON, January 15, 2016 – G2X Energy, a developer of advanced natural gas to methanol projects announced today they hosted a Ground Breaking Ceremony to celebrate the beginning of Phase 1 construction on their previously announced world-scale methanol production facility located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This event took place on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the facility site.

“We are extremely pleased to be moving forward in such a significant way on this project. All state and federal permits for construction have been obtained, staffing of key management is underway and our site preparation has begun,” stated Tim Vail, President and CEO of G2X Energy. “We are estimating the construction of this facility will add 2,500 direct and indirect jobs to the Lake Charles area and will take approximately 3 years to complete.”

We have been a proud partner with G2X in reaching this milestone and are excited about the jobs and economic benefits this project will bring to the Port of Lake Charles and the community as a whole. Being the 11th busiest port in the nation, we are constantly striving to partner with professional, dedicated companies like G2X and truly believe they will add greatly to the synergy of industries we have built along the Calcusieu Ship Channel.”

Once complete the facility, known as Big Lake Fuels Methanol Plant, will produce 1.4 million metric tons of commercial grade methanol per year and will have the necessary facilities to convert methanol to automotive gasoline in the future.

In addition to Mr. Vail and Mr. Rase, other speakers at the event included; SWLA Economic Development Alliance President and CEO, George Swift, CEO of G2X partner, Proman Group, David Cassidy, and Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Assistant Secretary, Mandi Mitchell.

“G2X, and our partners Methanol Holdings Trinidad Limited and Southern Chemical Corporation, are very appreciative of the efforts of the local, state and federal elected officials who, through their efforts, have allowed us to each this point. We feel this facility will be a large part of the revitalization of the methanol industry in Southwestern Louisiana,” stated Mr. Vail.
